Grounds and Landscaping Lead

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Supervise the irrigation of exterior landscape, flower beds, greenhouse, and garden
  • Supervise the maintenance of turf on all athletic fields
  • Supervise equipment operations, trash removal, and landscape debris recycling
  • Create and implement detailed landscape plans
  • Help troubleshoot greenhouse mechanical/environmental control systems
  • Manage weeds, pests, and disease control programs
  • Manage ornamental plants and flowers
  • Oversee and provide input on personnel matters such as recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluations, training, work allocations, and problem resolution
  • Assist in the annual budget planning process and regularly monitor expenditures

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in supervising, directing, and training employees in a landscape maintenance setting
  • Able to work in a variety of elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
  • Ability to endure strenuous physical work which include heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 pounds
  • Self-motivated and capable of working alone with little supervision
  • Uphold a stewardship mindset with the time and resources you are given
  • Knowledge of horticultural and turf maintenance and best management practices
  • Knowledge and experience in landscape irrigation programming, repairs, and water conservation practices
  • Ability to organize and allocate resources and establish priorities
  • Bonus points if you hold a degree or are certified in Horticulture

 

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
  • Subject to be on call and work weekends as needed
