Back New Year, New You

2018 will be the best year of your life if it's your best year spiritually

Your life is driven, not by what you know, but by what you desire

If you want to change what you do, you must first change what you love

...God said, “I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.”

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

Your spiritual growth is directly tied to the time you spend in scripture

1. Read for relationship first

• Guilt
• Application
• Relationship

We are for God

“Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.”
- Westminster Shorter Catechism

Your relationship with God is far more important than what you do for God

Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Many will say to me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?”

Then I will tell them plainly, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!”

2. Pick a plan that takes you out of your comfort zone

We all come to God with preconceived ideas about who He is

3. Read with pen and paper

4. Get a study Bible, or read a commentary

5. Be consistent

Consistency + Time = Relationship
