Notes

1 Does not Wisdom call, and Reason lift up her voice? 2 On the top of the heights along the way, at the crossroads she takes her stand...

... A whole day's wage for a quart of flour, a whole day's wage for three quarts of barley meal.

No man can belong to two masters, either he will attach himself to one and make light of the other. You must serve God or Mammon; you cannot serve both.

MAMONAS - Aramaic for "riches". It is akin to the Hebrew word for "amen", which means "that which is to be trusted."

God is opposed to our trusting in riches as opposed to trusting in Him.

Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor My righteous cause; yea, let them say continually, "Let the Lord be magnified which hath pleasure in the prosperity of His servant."

But you must make His kingdom and uprightness before Him your greatest care and all of these things will come to you as a matter of course.

Receive My instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

41 Then He sat down in front of the collection box watching as people dropped their money into the chest... 42 and many rich people were putting in large sums... but one poor widow came who dropped in two tiny coins, together worth a farthing. 43 So He called His disciples to Him and said, "I assure you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury... 44 for they have all put in a contribution out of their surplus but she, out of her need, has thrown in all she possessed―all she has to live on."

The person who trusts in money can only give what he will not miss!

22 The Lord formed me in the beginning, before He created anything else. 23 Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth.

Wisdom - operating with the established laws of God in view.

Material things are made possible by the wisdom of God!

With me [wisdom] are riches and honor, lasting wealth and justice. The fruit I give is better than gold, even the finest; the return I make is better than pure silver.

In Him all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are stored up, hidden from view.
