Embracing Authenticity & Growth in 2025

This year, Heather and Jamie are wrestling with questions that feel both deeply personal and universally human: Who am I, really? and How can I keep growing in every season?
Join us for the journey!

As the new year begins, the buzz of “new year, new you” fills the air, but maybe it’s not about becoming someone new. Maybe it’s about becoming the best version of the person God already created us to be—authentic, intentional, and grounded in His design.

This year, Heather and Jamie have been wrestling with questions that feel both deeply personal and universally human: Who am I really? How did God hardwire me? Am I the same person in private as I am in public? Am I giving my best to my family and those closest to me?

How can we be consistent—reflecting the same heart, same values, same love—whether we’re at work, in public, or at home?

Seasons of Change and Rediscovery

Life brings seasons of change—having kids, kids moving out, career shifts, losses, and opportunities. Each season can leave us reevaluating who we are.

Heather sees her daughters trying on different personalities, asking questions like, “What do I like? Who am I becoming?” Self-discovery is a lifelong journey.

But here’s the key: You need to know God to truly know yourself. And you need to know yourself to know God. If you focus only on self-exploration without grounding it in Him, you’ll get lost.

Shedding What Holds Us Back

As she  reflected on this past year, Jamie started asking herself: What coping mechanisms have I picked up along the way that don’t serve God’s purpose for my life?

Whether it’s the desire to be liked, perfectionism, or reliance on our own strength, these things can overshadow the gifts God has placed within us.

Heather shared how she’s in a season of embracing her God-given gifts and being comfortable with who she is. But she’s also wary of the danger of getting too comfortable—of relying on her own strength instead of staying dependent on God.

Every gift is beautiful when used as God designed it. But when we operate in our own strength, we risk missing the deeper purpose behind those gifts.

Creating Space for God

So, how do we stay grounded and open to growth?

It starts with creating space for God in our daily life. Simple prayers like, “Lord, help me in this task” or “God, show me Your purpose here,” remind us to stay connected even in our every day tasks.

Heather was reminded of the importance of remaining hungry for the Lord, carving out moments to slow down and listen. It’s so easy to let the noise of life drown out God’s voice.

Looking Ahead

As we step into a new year, we’re thinking about how to live this next season well. We want to remain curious, open to change, and committed to continual growth. The older we get, the easier it is to rely on our own strength or get stuck in the same old patterns.

But God invites us to something greater. He invites us to trust Him, to let go of what holds us back, and to become more fully the person He’s called us to be.

So, here’s to embracing the “same old us,” but with fresh purpose, deeper dependence on God, and a renewed hunger for His presence.
